ADG:
ACHIEVE-THE-DREAM
Children's Story Writing Contest
The Who, What and Why...?
Who is The American Dream Group?
The American Dream Group is a privately held corporation created
to help people achieve their dreams. We have dedicated two years to helping
individuals achieve their dreams through various contests and other programs.
We hope to share with everyone the tools and steps necessary to achieve
a variety of dreams through our ACHIEVE-THE-DREAM series of books
coming out in 2007!

What is the reason for sponsoring this contest?
Sponsoring a writing contest allows us to find writers willing to follow
their dreams and find stories that have a great chance of getting published.

Why would ADG want to find writers and stories for publishing?
We are offering this ongoing contest because we know that many aspiring
writers cant afford to work full-time at finding a publisher and
getting their writing careers off the ground. We have the belief that
getting published should not be impossible or nearly as difficult as it
currently is. We wanted to offer our resources of time, knowledge, and
financing to help several authors get their careers in writing jump-started.
We are not literary agents and publishing is just one ACHIEVE-THE-DREAM
subjects we are currently working on.

How do you plan to help authors get published?
We offer the contest winner and honorable mention winners a publishing
contract that makes use of our time, talent, and resources to seek out
the most appropriate publisher for their story. If the contract is accepted,
we then submit the story to several publishers as well as literary agents.
In the case of the winning story, we may self-publish the book ourselves
which will require a great deal of our time, financial resources, and
experience.

How is the Author compensated?
The contest winner receives $500 and publication in one of our upcoming
ACHIEVE-THE-DREAM book series. In the publication contract, we also
offer the writer a flat fee for their story and the opportunity to participate
in royalties IF we get their story published as its own childrens
book and the book is extremely successful. Many choose to accept this,
as it is widely understood that published authors have an advantage over
unpublished authors. It is often worth the royalties of one written piece,
if by doing so, it allows multiple doors to open for the writer. A published
writer is often invited to submit manuscripts to a publisher that otherwise
would not have looked at a piece. Also, it is often true of first books
that very few copies are sold and the amount of money made is negligible
(although every author hopes for extreme popularity and sometimes, although
rarely, that does happen). Please read the contract closely as the
compensation is different if we are fortunate enough to have it picked
up by a publishing house versus if ADG has to pay the money to self-publish
the book.

What happens if ADG is not successful at getting the story published?
There is no guarantee that we will be successful in finding a publisher
for your story. If we do not find a publisher or self-publish the book
ourselves, at the end of 12 months, the contract will be terminated and
all rights to the story revert back to the author.

If the winner chooses not to accept the publishing contract, does he/she
still receive any prize money?
Yes. Please keep in mind that even if the winner decides against accepting
the publishing contract, the $500 prize is theirs to keep so long as they
agree to a one-time publishing of their story in an upcoming ACHIEVE-THE-DREAM
book series.
